Arkansas State University
July 13-17, 2009
We welcome teachers to be a part of the Advanced Placement Summer Institute hosted by ASU. It will include seven areas for certification for AP and four areas for Pre AP. Each AP consultant serving the teachers is strong in subject matter and is highly skilled in presentation.
This Institute will prepare public school
teachers to use specific strategies, techniques and resources for
creating the successful AP classroom. Student success in Advanced
Placement courses is a strong indicator of future success in college.
This year, the Institute will offer training in eleven AP and Pre-AP
subjects. All AP and Pre AP classes are arranged for both new &
experienced teachers. This service for training teachers in AP & Pre AP
strategies is provided through the College of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Special Education.

Certificates of completion for 30 hours will be issued to each teacher who attends the entire Institute and has paid fees in full. Attendance is mandatory and will be noted daily in each class. This policy will be enforced. A limited number of grants for registration will be available to Arkansas public school teachers through the Arkansas Department of Education. This reimbursement will be given first to those AP teachers who have never attended an AP Institute. This ADE registration funding will be available until April 1, 2009. Following this date, the remainder of these funds will be available for registration of experienced AP and Pre AP teachers. Date of receipt of registration will determine qualification for state grants. Early registration is beneficial.
