The Masters Degree offers educators a planned program of study designed to improve their general educational and specific professional competencies as leaders in the public school systems.
- File an application with the Graduate School for admission and supply official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended since leaving high school. Submit 4 letters of recommendation.
- Obtain an official statement of admission to graduate study (your adviser will be named on the admission notice).
- Familiarize yourself with the Graduate Bulletin and this Graduate Student Handbook.
- Consult your adviser in regard to your program of study.
- Proceed with coursework.
- File an Intent to Graduate form with the Graduate School, signed by your adviser, at the registration period when you enroll for your last graduate coursework. (In the summer, you must file during the first summer session even if you are taking only a second summer session course for completion of your coursework.)
- Successfully complete the exit assessment during the internship (which is the last course in your program).
- Complete all requirements for the degree within six years.
Students enrolled in any licensure program are required to keep a portfolio. The portfolio will include thoughtfully selected artifacts and reflections that represent the students' individual experiences as they progress through a particular program of study. The portfolio "...serves as a catalyst for valuable self-reflection, providing direction for improvement in such areas as problem solving, collegial and community interactions, resource management, and most important, student progress" (Brown and Irby, 1997). The completed portfolio constitutes the exit assessment.
