Purpose of the Degree

The Specialist in Education degree with a major in Educational Administration offers educators a planned but flexible program of studies designed to improve their general educational and specific professional competencies as leaders in the public school systems. The degree is designed to provide one year of study beyond the Masters degree and is based on recommendations from professional organizations and accrediting associations.

Programs will be individually designed for superior students who wish to attain greater depth and breadth for professional development. The design of each candidate's program will be based on previous academic preparation, professional experiences, and career aspirations. Candidates may specialize in one of three areas: Superintendency, Special Education Director, Gifted and Talented Director, or Curriculum Specialist.

Internship

ELAD 7493 Supervised Internship
(Must be completed during the semester in which a candidate completes the degree.)

Assessment

(Each candidate is required to compile a portfolio while completing the degree. This portfolio constitutes the exit assessment.)
