I am dean of the College of Education at Arkansas State University in State University, Arkansas.  I am professor of Educational Leadership and Curriculum and have a joint appointment in the Department of History.  I have been a public school teacher, university professor, administrator, and foundation program director.

Prior to coming to Arkansas State University, I was a program director at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation in Battle Creek.  I worked in the Kellogg National Leadership program and also made grants in the areas of youth, P-12 education, and higher education. (See Kellogg Foundation).  One of the projects that I was most proud of was the Community History Project in my hometown of Marion, Indiana. (http://www.marion.lib.in.us/history/index.html)  Mr. Bill Munn, teacher at Marion High School, is the project director.

Below is a photograph of McCulloch Junior High School where I began my teaching career in 1972. (See "Diversity and Room 106" for a vignette of my first year of teaching.)
